Car sales in France shrink by 9.6 pct year-on-year in July

A total of 132,999 units of cars were sold in July in France, registering a year-on-year decline of 9.6 percent, French car sales federation CCFA said in a statement on Monday.

Sales of home-made brands suffered a 12.3-percent loss due to sharp decline in sales of PSA Peugeot Citroen group.

France's largest car maker saw its sales down by 17.4 percent after delivering 38,907 new cars over the period, according to the CCFA statement. The sales of Renault were down by 4.2 percent.

Meanwhile,French bought 65,382 cars of foreign brands, down from 70,056 units registered in July last year. Endit
