Australian men's basketball team beats China 82-53 in Olympic warmup

Xinhua, August 1, 2016 Adjust font size:

Australia embraced the return of pivot Andrew Bogut with a 83-53 victory over China in a warmup match of the Rio Olympic Games in Sao Paulo, Brazil, on Sunday.

Bogut, 31, played 15 minutes to collect three rebounds and an assist for his first game in over six weeks.

The former Golden State Warriors' center injured his knee during the NBA finals, and was traded to Dallas Mavericks this summer.

China didn't have many chances against the Boomers, with or without Bogut on the court, trailing all the way to the end in their second loss of the Super Challenge Brazil tournament.

Joe Ingles led the Australians with the game-high 21 points and six rebounds.

Both teams pitched as many players as possible for the last warmup tournament before the Rio Games, which will set off on August 6. China and Australia are bracketed in Group A and will meet on August 12.

Brazil and Lithuania are also competing in the tournament. Endit
