Xinhua, July 28, 2016 Adjust font size:

Togolese diaspora population has expressed its willingness to contribute to the country's economic growth.

The revelations were made during the Togo's Diaspora Social-Economic Forum (FOSED) being held in Lome between July 27 to 31.

The event whose main objective is to rediscover Togo as well as the potential of its diaspora population, is being held under the theme "Togolese Diaspora, Lever for Togo's Economic Emergence."

According to organizers, close to 500 participants including political actors, business people, economic operators as well as government officials will take part in the discussions on various topics.

Institutions involved in the process of registering companies will present to the diaspora population the different reforms initiated by the state, as well as the investment opportunities offered by Togo.

"A formal framework for holding dialogue between key socio-economic actors and the diaspora population should be created," FOSED administrator Antoine Gbekobou said during the opening ceremony.

He expressed confidence that the event would revive a climate of mutual trust between actors and will enable Togo achieve the desired development. Endit
