1st LD: Knife attack in E. Japan leaves at least 15 dead

A knife-wielding man attacked a facility for the disabled in eastern Japan's Kanagawa prefecture early Tuesday, leaving at least 15 people dead and 20 others seriously injured, local firefighters said.

The assailant, who seemed to be in his 20s, turned himself in at the Tsukui Police Station around 3 a.m. Tuesday, admitting to the attack, they said.

The police are investigating the motive behind the attack that took place at the Tsukui Yamayuri En facility at about 2:30 a.m., they said. Enditem
