Seminar on Tibetan studies to be held in August

Xinhua, July 25, 2016 Adjust font size:

An international seminar on Tibetan studies will be held in Beijing in August for academics to discuss the latest in Tibetology research, the organizer said Monday.

The seminar, the sixth of its kind since 1991, is scheduled for Aug. 2-4, will be attended by 325 scholars and observers from China and overseas, according to the China Tibetology Research Center (CTRC).

A total of 308 papers have been selected for the event, covering various topics such as contemporary politics, social transformation, economic development and the Belt and Road Initiative, said Li Decheng, a researcher with CTRC.

Since 1991, the seminars have helped academics and the public better understand Tibet's history and culture, and helped correct misconceptions about Tibet and the Chinese government's Tibet policy, CTRC said. Endi
