Mexico condemns terrorist attack in Afghan capital

Mexico's government expressed their sadness over a terrorist attack in Kabul, the capital city of Afghanistan, which left at least 80 people dead and injured another 231.

The Mexican government expressed their condolences and solidarity with Afghanistan's government and people as well as with the families of the victims who suffered the "regrettable violent act," Mexico's Foreign Ministry said in a press release.

"Mexico reiterates its total rejection of terrorism in all its forms and manifestations," said the Foreign Ministry.

Two explosions struck when thousands of members of the Shia Hazara minority community were protesting in Kabul against a new power line.

Afghan authorities suspected that the explosions were caused by two suicide bombers.

The terrorist group Islamic State (IS) has said it was behind the attacks and has confirmed that two of its fighters detonated explosive belts.

IS has a presence in eastern Afghanistan but has not previously admitted to carrying out assaults in the capital. Endit
