Cuban team to face U.S. in baseball friendlies

Cuban baseball team will face the United States' university team in five friendly matches starting on Saturday on the Caribbean island., it was announced on Friday.

Cuba coach Roger Machado called up Catchers Yosvani Alarcon, Osber Pena, Ariel Martinez and as infielders, Yasiel Santoya, William Saavedra, Raul Gonzalez, Jefferson Delgado, Yeniet Perez, Yorbis Borroto, Yolbert Sanchez and Dainier Galvez.

The Caribbean team also included fielders Julio Martinez, Yohandry Urgelles, Luis Moiran, Noel Gonzalez and Eduardo Blanco and pitchers Lazaro Blanco, Freddy Asiel Alvarez, Yoanni Yera, Miguel Lahera, Yaifredo Dominguez, Ulfrido Garcia, Livan Moinelo, Frank Medina, Yoen Socarras, Yoandry Cruz, Raidel Martinez and Hector Ponce.

The first two matches will take place in the Jose Ramon Cepero Stadium in the central-western town of Ciego de Avila.

The third game will be played in the Latinoamericano Park in Havana on July 25 and the last two will be played in the Capitan San Luis Stadium in Pinar del Rio on July 26 and 27.

The friendly baseball matches between Cuba and the U.S. university team had been held from 1987 to 1996, until they were suspended. The friendlies were resumed in 2012. Enditem
