Singapore stocks close 0.17 pct higher

Singapore stocks finished higher on Friday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) up 4.87 points, or 0.17 percent, to close at 2,945.35.

A total of 1.09 billion shares changed hands with turnover of 949.4 million Singapore dollars (703.3 million U.S. dollars).

Decliners outnumbered gainers 184 to 167, while 554 others finished unchanged.

The STI index gained 26.2 points, or 0.9 percent, to close at 2,945.74 on Thursday. Endit
