Dutch chip equipment company ASML on its way to record sales in 2016

Xinhua, July 20, 2016 Adjust font size:

Dutch chip equipment company ASML expects 2016 sales to top the 2015 record year, the company announced on Wednesday in its figures for the second quarter of 2016.

In 2015, ASML posted a record net sales of 6.29 billion euros (6.92 billion U.S. dollars).

"Confirming our previous statements on overall business trends, we now expect our full-year 2016 sales to exceed our 2015 record year," CEO Peter Wennink said in a press release. "Our business continues to perform well."

ASML recorded net sales of 1.74 billion euros in the second quarter this year, up from 1.65 billion euros in the same period a year ago. Net income was 354 million euros in the second quarter of 2016, compared to 370 million euros in same period in 2015.

On June 16, ASML announced the acquisition of Hermes Microvision (HMI) from Taiwan, China, for around 2.75 billion euros.

The combination of ASML as a leading provider of lithography systems for the semiconductor industry and HMI, as a leading supplier of pattern verification systems used for advanced semiconductor devices, should, according to Wennink, "enhance our holistic lithography offering."
