Singapore stocks close 0.9 pct higher

Singapore stocks finished higher on Wednesday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) up 26.2 points, or 0.9 percent, to close at 2,945.74.

A total of 1.2 billion shares changed hands with turnover of 1.23 billion Singapore dollars (904.4 million U.S. dollars).

Decliners outnumbered gainers 238 to 150, while 517 others finished unchanged.

The STI index lost 9.22 points, or 0.31 percent, to close at 2,919.54 on Tuesday. Endit
