Former Brazil international midfielder Diego Ribas da Cunha has joined Flamengo from Turkey's Fenerbahce, the Rio de Janeiro club said on Tuesday.

The 31-year-old agreed to a three-year deal with an estimated salary of 180,000 US dollars a month.

"Diego will be officially presented (to the media) on Wednesday," Flamengo said on their official website.

Capped 33 times for Brazil, Diego has had successful spells at Santos, Porto, Werder Bremen, Juventus, Wolfsburg, Atletico Madrid and Fenerbahce.

His career reached its zenith in 2007 when, while playing for Werder Bremen, he was voted the best player in the Bundesliga. Weeks later he was part of the Brazil team that won the Copa America in Venezuela. Endit
