Dow hits record high amid upbeat earnings

U.S. stocks hold on to gains on Monday, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average rising for the seventh consecutive day and setting its new closing high, as investors cheered better-than-expected corporate earnings.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 16.50 points, or 0.09 percent, to 18,533.05. The S&P 500 gained 5.15 points, or 0.24 percent, to 2,166.89. The Nasdaq Composite Index rose 26.20 points, or 0.52 percent, to 5055.78. Endit
