Chinese state councilor meets Costa Rican FM on ties

State Councilor Yang Jiechi met with Costa Rican Foreign Minister Manuel Gonzalez in Beijing on Monday, pledging to strengthen cooperation in trade, investment and people-to-people exchanges.

Speaking highly of the China-Costa Rica relationship, Yang called on the two sides to enhance mutual political trust and cooperate more in international and regional affairs.

Gonzalez said strengthening strategic relations with China is a priority for Costa Rica.

Invited by Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, Gonzalez is paying an official visit to China from Sunday to Tuesday.

The two ministers held talks Monday. During the talks, Gonzalez voiced Costa Rica's support for China's position on the South China Sea arbitration. Endi
