Huge wildfire extinguished in Russia's Far East

Huge wildfire covering an area of 2,250 hectares was extinguished in Yakutia of Russia's Far East, the local forestry department said on Monday.

According to the department, 231 people, 210 specialists from the fire department, and eight pieces of equipment were involved in the firefighting efforts.

The firefighters are continuing the efforts in the woods at the world natural heritage site of Lena Pillars Nature Park, where the fire engulfed almost 3,000 hectares of land, it said.

Yakutia has witnessed 109 forest fires so far this year, and almost 8,000 hectares of land were affected. Endi
