A Turkish photographer working with a local daily was killed in clashes in Istanbul on Friday night, when Turkey was plunged into chaos by a military coup attempt, the Hurriyet daily confirmed.

The journalist working for Turkey's Yeni Safak daily was among 90 people who lost their lives in a development that has shocked the world.

Another 1,154 were injured in clashes that broke out mainly in Istanbul and Turkey's capital of Ankara following the coup attempt, which was crushed now and led to the arrest of 1,563 others, the state-run Anadolu news agency said. Endit
