Polish V4 presidency to focus on innovations, start-ups

Polish presidency of the Visegrad Group (V4)in the economic field will focus on innovation, development of start-ups, the policy of cohesion and the EU's market unity, Polish Deputy Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said on Thursday.

Morawiecki met with representatives of economy ministries from other Visegrad Group countries: the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary, as well as non-Visegrad countries: Bulgaria, Croatia, Slovenia and Romania.

During the press conference after the meeting, Morawiecki introduced the main goals of the Polish presidency.

He underlined the fact that the Visegrad Group had a lot in common as well as innovation and start-up are concerned.

"We were able to create the biggest public fund for start-ups in Central Europe," Morawiecki said, "of 3,5 billion zloty and another 3,5 billion zloty from the venture capital, I believe it is a good basis, attracting attention not only to Polish start-ups, but also to start-ups from the whole Central Europe."

Jiri Havlicek, deputy minister of industry and trade of the Czech Republic, said that Czech Republic during its presidency also focused on innovations, start-ups. "We can see the continuation of many important topics in the Polish presidency and we are happy to support it," Havlicek said.
