The European Commission, the European Union's executive arm, on Thursday filed new antitrust charges against Google to include its advertising business, saying it had artificially restricted third-party websites from displaying search advertisements from Google's competitors.
The EU also filed a supplementary statement of objection to reinforce its preliminary charges that Google had abused its dominant position in search engines for online shopping, which the company has eight weeks to respond.
