China warns against tension-raising actions on Korean Peninsula

Xinhua, July 13, 2016 Adjust font size:

China on Wednesday called on parties concerned to do more that is conducive to safeguarding regional peace and stability.

Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lu Kang made the comment when asked about whether China supports a declaration condemning the recent test-firing of a ballistic missile by the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK).

Media reports said the United States and Japan are pushing the United Nations Security Council to issue a declaration to condemn the DPRK's firing of the ballistic missile.

Against the backdrop of the sensitive and complicated situation on the Korean Peninsula, all parties concerned should do more to safeguard regional peace and stability, he said.

Relevant parties should not for selfish purposes take any measures that might harm the security interests of other nations, damage regional strategic balance and escalate tensions in the region, he warned. Endit
