At least six people including five students and a teacher were injured as an explosive device ripped through a classroom in the eastern Khost province on Monday, Interior Ministry said in a statement released here.

"A mine planted by terrorists in a classroom of a school in Khost province today injured six people including five pupils and a teacher," the statement said.

Without giving more details, the statement blamed the enemies of Afghanistan, a reference to the Taliban and condemned the attack as a coward terrorist act.

Head of education department, Khost province also confirmed the incident, saying the terrorists planted the mine probably late last night in a classroom, injuring five students Monday morning.

Meanwhile, police chief of Khost province, Faizullah Ghirat, said efforts are under way to identify and bring to justice all those behind the heinous crime. Endit
