Shandong Luneng signs Senegalese striker Cisse

Xinhua, July 9, 2016 Adjust font size:

Chinese super league side Shandong Luneng announed on Saturday that Papiss Cisse joined Luneng from Newcastle United.

The 31-year-old Senegalese striker played in several countries like France, Germany and Britain. Cisse joined Newcastle United in January 2012 from SC Freiburg. He played for the Premier League side Magpies for four-and-a-half years before moving to China.

Luneng currently ranks in the relegation zone, and the team scored 7 goals but conceded 16 goals in recent 10 matches.

Cisse scored 44 goals in 131 appearances for the Magpies. He also holds the record of most goals scored by an African player in a single Bundesliga campaign in the 2010/11 season, when he scored 22 for SC Freiburg. And this may explain why Luneng coach Magath from Germany signed Cisse. Endit
