Coach Skripnik pens contract extension at Bremen

Xinhua, July 9, 2016 Adjust font size:

Werder Bremen and coach Viktor Skripnik extend their collaboration, the Bundesliga club announced on Friday.

The 46-year-old Ukrainian coach inked a one-year contract extension to stay with the "Green-Whites" until June 2018.

"Viktor Skripnik and his coaching staff endured several difficult periods for the club," Bremen's sporting director Frank Baumann said. "We are therefore pleased that we were able to convince Viktor and his staff that they are the best possible option for Werder."

Skripnik took the helm at relegation-threated Bremen in October 2014 and ensured another season in Germany's top flight.

"We are all of course very happy that the club trusts us, allowing us to continue our work for the long term," Skripnik said.
