Bremen extend contract with Bartels

Xinhua, July 8, 2016 Adjust font size:

Werder Bremen have extended the contract of Fin Bartels, the "Green-Whites" confirmed in an official statement on Friday.

The 29 years old midfielder penned a contract extension ahead of schedule and will stay at Bremen until June 2019.

"Fin is an absolute top performer since joining Werder. He enjoys also a high rating within the team. We are delighted that he will take a leading role in the next years," Bremen' s sporting director Frank Baumann said.

Bartels joined Werder Bremen in the summer of 2014 from second division side FC St.Pauli to score 14 goals in 66 appearances since his arrival.

"I made no secret on how well I feel here. That is why everything happened very quickly. The city, fans, stadium and the team spirit, everything is just right. I am pleased that I can continue be here," Bartels told the club' s official homepage.

Werder Bremen will encounter titleholders Bayern Munich for the Bundesliga season opener on August 26. Endit
