Austria's safe reputation to benefit tourism industry this year

Xinhua, July 8, 2016 Adjust font size:

Austria's reputation as a safe holiday destination has boosted its tourism industry this year, a leading domestic tour operator Eurotours said in a press release.

Eurotours CEO Helga Freund said Thursday that there's been nearly an eight percent increase in incoming summer tourism.

There's been an 11 percent increase in Austrians holidaying at home and six percent increase in foreigners choosing to visit the central European nation.

According to Freund, the "many crises around Europe" have led to enormous demand for holidays in Austria due to its safety record.

Furthermore, there's been an increase in car travel over flying.

Germans continue to make up the largest group of foreign tourists in Austria. Endi
