Germany's benchmark DAX index closes higher

The benchmark DAX index at Frankfurt Stock Exchange on Thursday advanced and closed at 9,418.78 points.

Uncertainties are still lingering after the referendum in Britain about its membership in the European Union, according to local analysts. The blue-chip DAX index added 45.52 points, or 0.49 percent.

The two utilities companies RWE and EON led the risers' list with an increase of 4.47 percent and 2.72 percent. Infineon Technologies, a semiconductor company, rose by 1.75 percent. Merck, a science and technology company, advanced by 1.39 percent. Fresenius Medical Care went up by 1.16 percent.

On the other hand, adidas lost 1.13 percent. Vonovia, a real estate company, fell by 1.12 percent. Linde, an industrial gas company, plunged by 1.11 percent. Deutsche Bank slipped by 0.91 percent. Volkswagen went down by 0.14 percent.

Allianz was the most traded share of the day with a turnover of 229.33 million euros (around 253.79 million U.S. dollars). Endit
