The following are the highlights of Zambia's major media outlets on Thursday.
-- Zambia and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) are preparing to actualize a bilateral trade agreement that was signed in 2015 to enhance trade between the two neighboring countries.
Zambia's Deputy Minister of Commerce, Trade and Industry Raymond Mpundu said the country was looking forward to concluding the bilateral trade agreement so that trade could begin to flow formally between the two countries.
He further said Zambia was also particularly interested in developing border infrastructure so that the cost of trade was reduced between the two countries. (ZAMBIA DAILY MAIL)
-- Millers in Zambia have assured that the country was food-secure and that the price of mealie-meal, the country's staple food, will remain stable in all parts of the country.
Millers Association of Zambia (MAZ) chairperson Andrew Chintala said that the projected 2.8 million tons of maize which the country would harvest from the 2015/2016 farming season was enough for consumption.
He said the country has sufficient maize and that it would be unwise to import the commodity at the moment. (TIMES OF ZAMBIA)
-- Zambia and Rwanda should continue to build on the existing sound bilateral relations for the good of the people of the two countries, a top Rwandan government official said.
Rwandan High Commissioner to Zambia Abel Buhungu said both countries had been cooperating in many areas including exchange on best practices across many sectors, forging common positions on regional and international issues of mutual interest as well as trade and investment.
He further expressed optimism that Zambia will hold peaceful elections next month and reaffirm its impeccable credentials of being an oasis of peace in Africa. (DAILY NATION) Endit
