China to share experiences in special economic zones with Republic of Congo

Xinhua, July 6, 2016 Adjust font size:

China will share its experiences in developing special economic zones with the Republic of Congo, Chinese Premier Li Keqiang said on Wednesday when meeting with Republic of Congo President Denis Sassou Nguesso.

The Congolese government began planning four special economic zones in Brazzaville, Pointe Noire, Ouesso and Oyo-Ollombo in 2013 to end the country's dependance on oil, create jobs and alleviate poverty.

China has been developing special economic zones since the 1980s. Sassou Nguesso has visited Shenzhen three times, a former fishing village that turned a high-tech center in south China.

"China will share its experiences in developing special economic zones and train talent urgently needed for sustainable development in the Republic of Congo," Li said.

The premier said China will work with the Central African country ton logistics and manufacturing centers.

The premier also mentioned investment and financial cooperation, infrastructure development and cooperation in agriculture and fisheries.

Sassou Nguesso invited Chinese businesses to invest in his country in industry, aviation, finance and other fields.

Sassou Nguesso also extended his sympathy to Li over the floods in south China and said he appreciated the Chinese government's efforts to mitigate the disaster. Endi
