Sea transport remains most common mode of goods transport in Albania

The most common mode of transporting goods in Albania is sea transport, Albanian Institute of Statistics informs on Tuesday.

During the first quarter of 2016, 68.9 percent of the value of exported goods and 51.4 percent of the value of imported goods are transported by sea.

The main groups of goods that have provided the greatest contribution to export through sea transport are: "Textile and Footwear" by 54.7 percent, "Minerals, fuels and electricity" by 15.6 percent and "Construction materials and metals" by 10.0 percent.

During this quarter, the main groups of goods that have provided the greatest contribution to export through sea transport are: "Machinery, equipment and spare parts" by 20.2 percent, "Textile and Footwear" by 18.0 percent and "Construction materials and metals" by 16.1 percent.

In this quarter 49.1 percent of exports and 14.1 percent of imports were realized by the group "Textiles and Shoes."

The group "Machinery and equipments" represents 22.1 percent of imports, decreasing by 27.0 percent compared with the previous quarter.

The main trade partners are Italy and Greece. Italy represents 30.5 percent of imports and 59.6 percent of exports and Greece represents 7.7 percent of imports and 4.4 percent of exports. Endit
