Sierra Leone FM heads for Nigeria to secure kidnapped diplomat

A high delegation led by Sierra Leone's Foreign Minister, Samura Kamara, has been dispatched to join the Nigerian authorities to secure the safe release of its diplomat, Deputy High Commissioner to Nigeria Claude Nelson-Williams.

According Information Minister Mohamed Bangura, the delegation left on Monday.

Bangura admonished his compatriots to remain calm as the government is in serious consultation with Nigerian authorities to see the "safe and unconditional release of the diplomat".

He noted that the government relies on the "assurance given by the Nigerian authorities to ensure Nelson-Williams is released within the shortest possible time".

Nelson-Williams was kidnapped last week on his way from Abuja to Kaduna to attend a military passing out parade. Endit
