Cologne and Modeste agree on contract extension

Xinhua, July 4, 2016 Adjust font size:

Cologne have extended the contract with Anthony Modeste ahead of schedule, the Bundesliga club confirmed in an official statement on Monday.

The 28-year-old striker, whose running contract was stipulated until June 2019, extends his spell at Cologne for another two years after signing an extension until summer 2021.

"Anthony Modeste is a great Bundesliga striker who scored 15 goals in his first season for Cologne. We timely offered him a contract extension because we are aware of his value for the team," Cologne' s chairman Joerg Schmadtke told the club' s official homepage.

After two years at Hoffenheim, Modeste joined Cologne in the summer 2015 after putting pen to paper on a four-year deal. He scored, since his arrival, 15 goals in 34 appearances for the "Billy Goats".

"I am looking forward to play here in the coming years. I am already focused for the new season," Modeste said.

Cologne completed the last Bundesliga season on the 9th place of the standings. They will encounter Darmstadt for their season opener on August 27. Endit
