Scores of Taliban militants have been killed and dozens others injured in the northern Kunduz and Badakhshan provinces over the past 24 hours, senior army commander in the northern region, General Hamidullah Hamid said Monday.

"Scores of Taliban rebels including 32 insurgents only in Raghistan district of Badakhshan province have been killed and dozens others injured since Sunday," Hamid told Xinhua.

Taliban commanders Qari Mustafa and Qari Basit are also among those killed during military operations over the past two days, the official said.

Several more Taliban insurgents have been killed in parts of Kunduz province over the past 24 hours, the official added.

The official, however, didn't say if there were casualties on security personnel.
