First group of relocated migrants arrive in Croatia

The first group of relocated migrants arrived in Zagreb, the capital of Croatia, on Friday under an EU's migration management plan.

The four Eritreans from Italy would stay temporarily at Porin reception centre for asylum seekers in Zagreb, local media reported.

Croatian Interior Minister Vlaho Orepic said it was the beginning of a process in which all state institutions would have to demonstrate responsibility.

Branko Baricevic, the head of the European Commission Representation to Croatia, said that EU earmarked 70 million euros (78 million U.S.dollars) from EU budget for migrants in Croatia until 2020.

He believed Croatia would know how to use the money, he added.

Croatia is due to receive 1,583 migrants under the EU relocation agreed last September.

Some 650,000 migrants passed through Croatia from last September to March on their way to Western Europe, especially Germany. The so-called Balkan route was largely shut down in March. Endit
