Tourists' total nights spent in Malta up in April

Guests' total nights spent in Malta in April increased by 1.8 percent when compared with April 2015, according to figures published by the archipelago's National Statistics Office on Friday.

The figures also showed that the number of guests staying in collective accommodation establishments (hotels and similar accommodation) in April 2016 decreased by 0.1 percent.

Collective accommodation categories registered increases in total nights spent, with the exception of five-star and three-star hotels. The largest share of guest nights was reported in four-star hotels, accounting for 49.4 percent of the total.

The average length of stay in collective accommodation establishments went up to 5.2 nights in April 2016 from 5.1 nights in the same month of 2015.

The total number of guests staying in the Maltese islands during the first four months of 2016 amounted to 437,145, an increase of 4.3 percent over the same period in 2015. Total nights spent went up by 5.2 percent, reaching almost 2.3 million. Endit
