Xinhua, July 1, 2016 Adjust font size:

Chinese stocks closed mixed on Friday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.1 percent, at 2,932.48 points.

The smaller Shenzhen index closed 0.3 percent lower at 10,458.43 points.

Turnover on the two bourses stood at 520.3 billion yuan (80 billion U.S. dollars), retreating from 575.2 billion yuan the previous trading day.

The military industry and nonferrous metal made gains, while the oil and electronic information sectors lost.

China's manufacturing sector posted a slight drop in June. The purchasing managers' index (PMI) came in at 50 for the month, slightly lower than May's 50.1, according to the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) and the China Federation of Logistics and Purchasing.

NBS statistician Zhao Qinghe said, in general, the manufacturing sector is steady and its structures are improved. High-tech manufacturing picked up remarkably while industries with excess capacity contracted.

The ChiNext Index, which tracks China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, lost 0.75 percent to close at 2,211.18 points. Endi
