U.S. Homeland Security chief Jeh Johnson said on Thursday enhanced security presence were expected at U.S. airports and other domestic transit centers over the July 4 weekend after the deadly Istanbul terror attack.
"The American public should expect to see this July 4th weekend an enhanced security presence at airports, train stations and other transit centers across the country by TSA (Transportation Security Administration) and state and local law enforcements, as well as security personnel generally," said Johnson here at a congressional hearing. WASHINGTON -- The International Monetary Fund (IMF) on Thursday warned that significant uncertainty over Britain's vote to leave the European Union (EU) is likely to dampen economic growth in Britain, Europe and the rest of the world.
"I would say Brexit has created significant uncertainty, and we believe this is likely to dampen growth in the near term, particularly in the UK but with repercussions also for Europe and the global economy," IMF spokesman Gerry Rice said at a regular press briefing. (IMF-Brexit-Impact)

UNITED NATIONS -- UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon on Thursday welcomed China's accession to the International Organization for Migration (IOM), saying that he believed China will make a valuable contribution to IOM.

BRASILIA -- Brazilian Senate President Renan Calheiros said Thursday that the final impeachment vote for suspended President Dilma Rousseff will happen between Aug. 25-27, after the end of the Rio Olympics.
