CPC has more than 88 mln members: authorities

The Communist Party of China (CPC) had a total of 88.758 million members at the end of 2015, the Organization Department of the CPC Central Committee said Thursday.

Membership increased by 965,000 compared to 2014, up 1.1 percent. Among them, 22.278 million are women, only 25.1 percent of Party members, while 6.18 million are from ethnic minorities, 7 percent of the total, the department said in a communique published ahead of the 95th anniversary of CPC's founding on July 1.

The grassroots Party units increased by 54,000 to 4.413 million, 1.2 percent compared to 2014. Endi
