Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen on Thursday removed a high-ranking police officer from his position for insulting a traffic policeman in a quarrel stemmed from traffic violation.

In a post to his Facebook page, Hun Sen said that he decided to expel Lieutenant General Mam Sri Vanna from his position as the deputy director-general of the General Department of Immigration, but retain his Lieutenant General title.

The removal was made after Vanna violated a traffic light while driving in Phnom Penh on Monday and opposed to a fine by a traffic policeman, according to a video clip posted on social media. Moreover, he used an insulting term on the policeman.

The senior police officer called the traffic policeman Ar traffic police', Ar is a derogatory term used for children or younger people.

"The term Ar traffic police' not only insults the subordinates, but also looks down on the whole unit of the traffic police," the prime minister said. "I have never expected that he is a police officer, but he uses the word Ar police'." Endit
