The Sudanese government on Wednesday reiterated keenness to facilitate delivery of humanitarian assistance to the affected people at conflict areas in Sudan.
"The Sudanese government is keen to facilitate delivery of humanitarian assistance, and reiterates readiness to cooperate and coordinate with the agencies and non-governmental organizations operating in Sudan," Sudan's Humanitarian Aid Commission (HAC) said in a statement Wednesday.
The HAC vowed to provide protection together with the necessary permissions and facilitation to deliver humanitarian assistance, and to support the rehabilitation efforts at the areas in need, particularly Darfur.
The commission further commended the standing cooperation between it and the UN agencies, urging all national and international partners to exert further efforts to enhance the humanitarian conditions and support the government efforts to move from emergency relief to early recovery and rehabilitation.
The United Nations and other international organizations have earlier complained about "significant restrictions" for them to access the affected populations at the conflict areas in South Kordofan, Blue Nile and Darfur regions.
The Sudanese government justifies its restriction to the movement of the organizations and UN agencies at those areas, citing security reasons. Endit
