The expected vehicle registration cards and driving licenses will be based on the leading technology Lasink and will have a ten year service life.

Burkina faso will then be the first African country to benefit from the technology which should enable more traceability likely to leverage taxes growth in the country.

"Today, the treasury loses a lot of money due to counterfeited driving licenses and vehicle registration cards in circulation," Soulama said in a release.

He added that accurate communication strategy will be conducted so as to sensitize Burkina Faso population on the new measures taken by the government.

"We are pleased to support the government of Burkina Faso with such a highly developed Lasink technology,"Fontaine said. Endit
