Tokyo stocks advance in the morning as Brexit fears abate

Tokyo stocks advanced Wednesday morning as a softer yen helped boost sentiment as early fears about Britain leaving the European Union abating underpinned the broader market.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average added 220.58 points, or 1.44 percent, from Tuesday to 15,543.72.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, gained 19.93 points, or 1.63 percent, to 1,244.55.

Notable gainers by the morning break comprised insurance, iron and steel and financial service-linked stocks. Endit
