Berlin Fashion Week opens with spring/summer 2017 collections

Xinhua, June 29, 2016 Adjust font size:

Taking over from the fashion craze of Paris Fashion Week, the 19th season of Berlin Fashion Week kicked off here on Tuesday, showing the lastest spring/summer lines for the coming year.

Amsterdam-born fashion designer Erik Frenken opened with a new collection of his label Avelon, featuring a variety of stripes, A-lines silhouettes, ruffles and pleats.

While Avelon gives a feeling of nostalgia with a touch modernity, Berlin label Ewa Herzog stressed femininity. The new collection is a combination of elegant, comfortable and feminine with sexy dresses, knee-length skirts, refined twinsets and jumpsuits.

A total of 70 fashion shows as well as fashion salons, after-show parties, exhibitions and off-site events will be held during the fashion week.

Established designers such as the Marcel Ostertag, Anja Gockel, Lena Hoschek and Guido Maria Kretschmer will also return to the stage with their new collections in the coming days.

The biannual fashion event, hosted by Mercedes-Benz, is expected to attract 200,000 visitors including buyers, industry professionals and fashion enthusiasts to the German capital until July 1.

Started in the summer of 2007, Berlin Fashion Week has gained increasing attention in recent years. Endit
