Gunmen kill 2 teachers in Burundi's Mwaro province: official

Xinhua, June 26, 2016 Adjust font size:

Two secondary school teachers were Saturday night shot dead in an ambush by unidentified gunmen at Ndava in Mwaro province, 70 km east of the Burundian capital Bujumbura, local administration sources said Sunday.

"The two teachers were ambushed as they were walking to their homes by midnight (22:00 GMT). Unidentified gunmen shot them dead and stole their money, their phones and their valuable objects and left their corpses on the roadside," said Aloys Ndenzako, administrator of Ndava district.

According to him, the two victims had bought drinks at a bar in Ndava town before they headed home.

He added that investigations are underway to identify the gunmen.

One month ago, on May 26, two persons including a police officer and a watchman were shot dead at the office of the Burundian ruling party in the same small town of Ndava. Endit
