Laos has first batch of aviation maintenance technicians graduated

Xinhua, June 25, 2016 Adjust font size:

Laos has its first batch of aviation maintenance technicians graduated, Lao state-run online newspaper Vientiane Times reported on Saturday.

According to the report, representatives of Lao Department of Civil Aviation and Lao Air Traffic Management has witnessed the country's first aviation maintenance technicians graduation ceremony at the Construction Investment and Technology (CIT) Technical Center based in capital Vientiane on Tuesday.

The center was established in 2015 and began training in September. Its courses are the first part of a four-year training program for aviation maintenance technicians.

After graduation, the technicians will continue their training at airports in Vientiane and five other provinces.

In order to provide a strong foundation for their maintenance work, the courses studied at the Technical Center included technical subjects, such as electronics, mathematics, information technology and software, as well specific courses related to the aviation industry.

Most of the courses are taught in English. Once stationed at the airports in the provinces, the technicians will continue to train on-the-job for three years. The number of trainees will increase to 30 for the 2016-2017 academic year, starting in September, 2016. Endit
