The following are highlights of major South African media outlets on Friday.

-- The rand dropped by the most since 2008 against the dollar and fell to a record against the yen as UK referendum results pointed toward a vote to leave the European Union, rocking markets globally.

The currency slumped the most in emerging markets, losing 7.1 percent to R15.5214 by 5.56 a.m. local time in Johannesburg, the weakest level since June 1, according to Bloomberg generic pricing. The rand plunged 11.5 percent to 6.5932 yen. (Business Day).

-- The High Court in Pretoria will on Friday hand down judgment in President Jacob Zuma's bid to appeal its decision that he should face corruption charges.

The National Prosecuting Authority and Zuma's lawyers wanted leave to appeal the court's ruling on April 29 that the decision to discontinue the prosecution against Zuma on 783 corruption charges should be reviewed and set aside.(News24)

-- Sports Minister Fikile Mbalula says the African National Congress (ANC) must draw lessons from the unrest in Pretoria townships.
