7 militants killed in eastern Afghan airstrikes

Xinhua, June 24, 2016 Adjust font size:

Seven armed militants were killed after NATO-led coalition forces launched airstrikes in Afghanistan's eastern province of Nangarhar overnight, the provincial government said on Friday.

"The pilotless planes of international forces struck two militants' hideouts in Rahmati and Marsingay areas of Lal Puri district last night, killing seven armed militants and wounding two others," it said in a statement.

The air attack also destroyed one vehicle, a motorcycle and weapons and ammunition, according to the statement.

The targeted militants were members of Taliban insurgents, the statement said, adding that no civilian was harmed as a result of the attack.

The Taliban have yet to make comments. Enditem
