Spanish stock market index rises 0.40 pct, closes at 8,702 points

The Spanish stock market index Ibex 35 rose 0.40 percent on Wednesday to close at 8,702 points, up from the 8,667.30 points of Tuesday.

On Wednesday session, Merlin shares led rises climbing 3.88 percent, followed by Gamesa, Mapfre, Grifols, Caixabank and IAG that rose 2.86 percent, 2.59 percent, 1.55 percent, 1.52 percent and 1.12 percent respectively.

On the other hand, Viscofan shares led falls losing 1.72 percent, followed by Banco Popular, REC, Endesa, ArcelorMittal and Gas Natural that lost 1.07 percent, 1.05 percent, 0.99 percent, 0.81 percent and 0.40 percent respectively.

Meanwhile, Spain's risk premium closed at 144.90 points and Spain's 10-year bond interest rate closed at 1.5 percent both showing no big differences when compared with Tuesday. Endit
