Republic of Congo national carrier suspends domestic flights

Xinhua, June 21, 2016 Adjust font size:

Republic of Congo national carrier, ECAir, on Monday announced a temporary suspension of its domestic flights between Brazzaville and Pointe-Noire until mid-July, 2016.

The reason for the suspension is the damage to the Boeing 737-700 that flies on the domestic route, when it had been taken for routine maintenance in Europe.

A statement issued by the company said ECAir will continue selling tickets along the Brazzaville-Pointe Noire-Brazzaville route during the interim period, during which passengers will be transported on Trans Air Congo flights, a private partner company.

Created in 2011, ECAir has seven planes and has so far transported over 1.5 million passengers in the last five years.

In April, due to its growth ambitions, ECAir, issued a bond on the Central African stock market to raise 60 billion CFA Francs (over 91 million euros), to increase its fleet and reinforce its regional routes. Endit
