Tokyo shares end higher on weaker yen

Tokyo shares ended the trading Tuesday higher on the yen's depreciation and easing anxiety over Brexit possibility.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average jumped 203.81 points, or 1.28 percent, higher from Monday to 16,169.11.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was up 14.71 points, or 1.15 percent, to 1,293.90.

Gainers were led by pharmaceuticals, food and real estate issues.

The day's turnover was about 1,779.6 billion yen (around 17.04 billion U.S. dollars). Endit
