Tropical storm "Danielle" heads for Mexico

Tropical storm "Danielle" "Danielle" is expected to hit Mexico on Monday afternoon and will last for at least 12 to 24 hours, according to Mexico's National Meteorological Service (SMN).
The Atlantic Ocean's fourth tropical depression increased its wind strength and turned into tropical storm "Danielle" earlier on Monday, the SMN said.
The storm is currently located around the eastern Mexican state of Veracruz on the Gulf of Mexico, the weather agency said in a press release.
"Danielle" is moving to the west-northwest by 11 km per hour with maximum sustained winds of 65 km per hour and gusts of up to 85 km per hour. For that reason, the area of prevention is still active from Laguna Verde to Panuco River, in Veracruz.
The SMN says the tropical storm will bring rainfall, with the amount varying from 75 to 250 millimetres, in the Mexican states of Hidalgo, Oaxaca, Puebla, Queretaro, San Luis Potosi, Tamaulipas and Veracruz. Abnormal amounts of rainfall is also expected in some other states.
The storm could also bring flash floods, lightning, hailstones, strong winds of up to 60 km per hour and high tides between 2.5 and 3.5 metres to some parts of the Latin American country, according to the SMN, which belongs to Mexico's National Water Commission.
The government decided to suspend classes in all schools in the north and center of the state. Endit
