1st LD: Suicide bomber hit bus in Afghan capital, leaving casualties

A suicide bomber struck a bus carrying security personnel in eastern Afghan capital of Kabul on Monday, leaving casualties, sources and witnesses said.

"The attack took place at early morning in Pul-e-Charkhi road also called Jalalabad road. We still cannot provide details on causalities. There is fear of possible causalities," a source told Xinhua anonymously.

Meantime, unofficial sources said at least 13 people were killed and nearly 25 others wounded by the attack.

"So far, we have no more details, but we will try to get more information," the source noted.

Witnesses said they heard heavy explosion when the attacker targeted a bus carrying foreign security guards presumably form Nepal.

Security forces have cordoned off the area for precautionary measures.

So far, no one has claimed responsibility for the attack, but the Taliban militant group has launched similar attacks in the past. Enditem
