Osasuna became the third and final side to win promotion to the Spanish BBVA Primera Liga on Saturday when they defeated Girona 1-0 on the day and 3-1 on aggregate in the play-off for the final promotion spot.
Osasuna, from the city of Pamplona, join Alaves and Leganes in ensuring they will take on sides such as FC Barcelona, Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid next season.
The only goal of Saturday' s game was scored by Kenan Kodro, whose father played for Real Sociedad and FC Barcelona in Spain, shortly after halftime to complete an incredible turnaround for his side.
Osasuna were relegated from the Primera Liga two seasons ago and amid economic problems, struggled in the Liga Adelante last season only avoiding relegation thanks to a goal in the last minute of the last game of the season.
This season saw a major improvement under coach Enrique Martin and although they ended the campaign in sixth place, Osasuna were able to defeat Gimnastic Tarragona in the semi-finals of the playoffs before their results against Girona assured them a return to the top flight. Endit
